Spring mYak Knit-Along
Kicks off March 27th at Knit Night
"What’s this Knit-along?” you ask:
MYak makes the mosts beautiful warmer-weather yarns. My two faves are Baby Yak Silk and Baby Yak Cotton (Kupa), and there are sooooo many wonderful ways to use them. Rather than me dictating which pattern everyone should make, I’m going to throw out a bunch of suggestions, and we can each knit the projects that we prefer.
Will there be classes?
Yes. And no. I will be scheduling one-session workshops to perfect techniques used in the patterns (i.e. jogless stripes, lacework), but unless everyone ends up doing the same exact garment, I’m not going to teach a full course on one pattern.
How about help along the way?
Knit Night! Also, we’ll pepper in some other knitting get-togethers (i.e. drinks at Night Shift in Leesburg or coffee at Ridgetop in Sterling) for additional help time, and, of course, you know you can also reach out to me directly for help. If you REALLY need help, we can schedule some private or semi-private lessons.
How do we order yarn?
Through me! Once you decide which pattern(s) you want to make, register for this knit-along, and I will reach out to you to discuss pattern and yarns, which I will order for you. I’m happy to wind any and all skeins you desire, but remember — wound skeins cannot be returned.
What’s so great about mYak and these yarns?
Beyond the fact that mYak is a small business dedicated to making the most beautiful yarns in Italy while also helping to improve the lives of communities in Tibet and elsewhere, these yarns make garments that last and with minimal pilling, and the colors are fun and fabulous. Yes. These two yarns are light fingering, so in most cases you will be using smaller needles than you are perhaps used to. But, you might find (as I have) that knitting with lighter yarn actually feels better on your body. And, these are warm-weather patterns. They tend to have fewer stitches than winter stuff.
Can we talk about some PATTERNS already?
You betcha!!! These are some suggestions, but if you have other ideas of what you want to make, let’s talk it out. (These are all pictured above.)
