Fair Isle Hat

Fair Isle queen Mary Jane Mucklestone’s pine-star hat is a fabulous design for newbies and pros alike. In this class, you’ll learn how to knit a Fair Isle hat without the dreaded puckering and then walk away with a hat you’ll love for life.

Prerequisites: Long-tail cast-on, knit stitch, purl stitch, binding off.

Two colors of worsted-weight yarn (After you register for the class, I will talk with you about pattern selection and yarn. If you go with a mYak yarn, I will order it for you.)
12 stitch markers — 1 needs to be noticeably different than the rest
Needles (NOTE: We will make a swatch in the first class to learn the Fair Isle pattern and check gauge. If your gauge is different than the pattern’s, you likely will need to go up or down a needle size.)
One 16” circular needle in size US 7 for ribbing
One 16” circular needle in size US 8 for colorwork section
One 16” circular needle in US 7 for stockinette section after colorwork (optional)
One set of double-pointed needles or a 40” circular needle for magic loop in size US 7 for crown of hat
Blocking supplies
(Optional) 1 5/8” Pompom maker
